OnePlus 7 Pro 5G Specifications, Review and Price

OnePlus 7 Pro 5G is among one of the first 5G smartphones to hit the UK market. It’s basically the OnePlus 7 Pro, though it adds some hardware to enable 5G capabilities on top of the baseline 3G/4G. Oh, and it has a 5G logo on the back. Here’s what you need to know. Just as 5G is what is added to the name, that is just about what is the difference between this and the regular OnePlus 7 Pro. That said, 5G is the new rave when it comes to connectivity. While there is the debate of the availability of this fast cutting edge connectivity, there is still about just a handful of network providers that offer it. Even moreso, smartphone makers have been rolling out their own smartphone with the feature and those who haven’t are teasing a release of a smartphone with one in the future.

OnePlus 7 Pro 5G Key Specs and Features

  • 6.67-inch, Fluid AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 1440 x 3120 pixels resolution
  • Octa-core Qualcomm
  • Snapdragon855 processor and 6GB/8G/12GB RAM
  • 4G LTE
  • Optical Underscreen
  • Fingerprint Scanner
  • 128GB/256GB built-in storage with no support for expansion
  • Triple 48MP + 16MP + 8MP rear camera and a 16MP pop-up front camera
  • 4, 00mAh non removable Li-Po battery.

Design and Display

The handset looks awfully similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro, but the company hasn’t said much. We got a brief look at it on the showfloor and couldn’t tell it apart from its sibling. It appears to have the same 6.67-inch AMOLED display on the front, virtually no bezel on any side, no notch or hole punch camera, a pop-up camera on the top edge, and front and back glass that’s curved on the edges.
It appeared to have the same Nebula Blue gradient, too, which goes from dark blue to light with a soft sheen. Outrightly, the 5G model has the same appearance as the normal Pro version not unless you consider the 5G branding. Aside, that the smartphone has the same Corning Gorilla Glass on both sides and a well polished aluminum frame to give it an all-round premium feel. All other things like the pop selfie camera, and reduced bezels are exactly as it is. Big screens on a smartphone are usually a pretty sight to behold but then it can be quite a bit stressful to use with one hand. However, due screen is curved at the side and takes up most of the front of the smartphone. Being able to maximize the screen space is why you can have a 6.67-inch display with splendid colour display and quad HD resolution.

Battery and Camera

5G might be relatively new to you but I’m certain it weighs more on the battery when turned on which brings us to the capacity this smartphone has. The answer to that is a satisfying 4, 000mAh battery capacity with Warp Charge and reverse charging supported.

Hardware and Software

In this aspect, the smartphone has just about what most recent flagship boast of and that is the latest version of the high-end Qualcomm chipset – the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor. In addition, you have a 12GB RAM with 256GB internal storage without support for SD card or any other added storage expanding. Also, there is the Android Pie OxygenOS 9 pre-installed from the factory.

OnePlus 7 Pro 5G and Availability

The official pricing is not clear yet but it will be close to around 300, 00 Naiara depending on your location and the deal. OnePlus did not reveal pricing for the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G during its launch event. For comparison, when the OnePlus 7 Pro goes on sale from 21 May, it will start at £649 for the 6GB/128GB model, while the highest RAM/storage option with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage will cost £799.
