Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Specifications, Review and Price – Xiaomi moves forward to Launch Redmi Note 8 after the recent version which was Xiaomi Redmi Note 7.
Xiaomi has managed to ship over 20 million units of the Redmi Note 8 series globally which is a feat in itself. We found the Redmi Note 7 Pro to be Xiaomi’s most refreshing upgrade to the lineup in a long time, as we noted in our review. The Note 7 series set a benchmark in the smartphone markets around the world and it’s up to Xiaomi now to one up themselves.
The mobile phone turf has seen a lot of developments in the past quarter or so with consumers eyeing features like pop-up camera, in-display fingerprint sensor and multiple cameras under various budget segments.
Having said that, Redmi Note series is a pretty important lineup for the Chinese electronics maker which is why it is doubling down on making the phones attractive.
Availability and Price
The Redmi Note 8 is priced at 999 yuan (Rs 10,000) in China, and in Nigeria as #51,000 for the 4GB+64GB variant, 1,199 yuan for the 6GB + 64GB variant and 1,399 yuan for the 6GB + 128GB variant.
This device is powered by the MediaTek Helio G90T chipset, along with 6 or 8GB of RAM. The Redmi Note 8 will implement the Snapdragon 665 with 4 or 6GB of RAM.
As for cameras, both the phones have a quad camera setup consisting of a primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro lens and a depth sensor. The Note 8 Pro has a 64MP primary sensor, making it the world’s first smartphone to do so, while the Note 8 has a 48MP sensor.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 is lesser than Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro which sports a 6.53-inch touchscreen display with 1080×2340 pixel resolution and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The smartphone comes powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G90T processor coupled with 6GB of RAM. It runs Android 9 Pie-based Xiaomi’s own custom MIUI 10.
For imaging duties, the smartphone has got a quad camera setup on the rear that includes a 64MP primary camera, an 8MP camera, a 2MP camera and again, a 2MP camera. As for the front camera, the phone comes with a 20MP selfie-snapper.
The Redmi Note 8 Pro smartphone is backed by a 4,500mAh non-removable battery. It supports proprietary fast charging.
The various connectivity options of the phone include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, GPS, Bluetooth v5.00, NFC, Infrared, USB Type-C, 3G and 4G. As for the sensors, Redmi Note 8 Pro comes equipped with fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, compass/ magnetometer and gyroscope.
The smartphone comes with 64GB of inbuilt storage that can be expanded via microSD card by up to 256GB.
